I am sorta monkey today (uh-uh-uh :nana:), and just following *ANTIFAN-REAL's "222222" journal entry. It's really a good reason to show some tiny lifesigns.

Yuk! I still live. And still I am a part of the Blimeygames team. Gotta say I have experienced many activites there: concept art, texture works, mainmenu works, virtual gardening (yes, grass and trees), betatesting, now I am trying to learn 3Dmax, and ... today I have rejuvenated my memories about programming.

It's great job and it has quite a possitive effect to my portfolio of painted landscapes. I would like to share those with you, but unfortunatelly the paintings can't be released yet.

It's a pitty. As a side effect of such a day schedule my free time reserve shrunked almost to zero :( I have touched my camera gear only once this year and during weekend it was only one day when I got the courage to spend it by playing a computer game.

That's not an optimal state of living. So I will have to reschedule my day plan to spend more time outside. The landscape photoshoots really missing me.

Few hours ago I just ordered a new widescreen 26" LCD monitor and I think it would be a good reason to share part of the joy with you. :D I do believe you would appreciate slightly bigger wallpapers for download, so please don't forget to vote in a following poll and tell me your desired pixels.

Poll: What size of wallpapers you would prefer ?

Blimey! I am 30 today!

  • Listening to: Ortiga - Ayemé
  • Reading: Game Design Document
  • Watching: I Served the King of England
  • Playing: Half Life 2: Episode 1
  • Eating: .... quickly (I know it's unhealthy)

Ohhh My! The year-counter everflown again, and I have fallen into 30's of my lifetime. Guess what, I still feel the same! (Althought that Alshaimer-guy is trying to hide my tools much more often than before) :D

Okay, it was kind of a stupid joke, I know. Please ignore it and forgive me. I have my birthday today so I am eligible to be a little bit more craz.....excentric than usually. Can I ?

Somehow all the milestones concetrated into this short time period: I have got 200000 pageviews on DA, 100000 pageviews on my webpage, 8000 watchers wanted to watch me, and my webpage finally broken milestone of 1000 views in a single day. Thank you all for such an audience! I really appreciated it. :thanks:

And finally the most iportant thing: I am proud new member of the game development company: Blimey! games.

I am all happy, because finally I am working in the industry which I allways wanted to be part of. And Blimey! is a great team. And I am theirs new concept artist.
:boogie:

But it's also the reason why I am less communicative on DA than usually. (My responses were quite poor before, but now my communication level is trully horrible). People, please accept my appology for it. I am reading all the messages you have written to me, but I am unable to allocate enough spare time to answer them.

all the best,
Robert Mekis @ Blimey!

Gloomy Nature competition

Sun Nov 26, 2006, 8:26 AM
Gloomy Nature competition:

I have joined jury team for the competition organised by *Solkku . To have competition more spicy I have also added some financial value to the first prize as a sponsor

So what does "Gloomy" mean? As can be seen here, it means the following things:

1. dark or dim; deeply shaded: gloomy skies.
2. causing gloom; dismal or depressing: a gloomy prospect.
3. filled with or showing gloom; sad, dejected, or melancholy.
4. hopeless or despairing; pessimistic: a gloomy view of the future.

So, simply put: Your task is to incorporate gloominess to a nature photo. Here are some examples:

Rules:
* The competition deadline is 31st December 2006 at 24:00 hours Finnish time (GMT +2).
* Submissions after the deadline will be disqualified.
* The photo must be a nature photo!
* The photo must be yours! (And must be available on deviantART).
* You are allowed to submit older artwork which are still online.
* You are not allowed to submit photos you have entered with in my two previous competitions
* You can submit only one photo to the competition.
* You may not manipulate the photo further than what could be done in a darkroom. (Temperature, Tint, Exposure, Brightness, Contrast and Saturation). However, a frame and text on the actual photo is accepted.
* Black & White photos are accepted as they often portray gloominess.
* After the competition's deadline the jury will decide on the top three.
* Jury members may not participate in the competition.
* Disallowed photo types: Photo manipulations
* The organizer of the competition (*Solkku) is allowed to change the rules at any time if needed.

Hint: The jury looks for gloominess, originality and details.

How to Enter:
Send the note to *Solkku with the subject "Gloomy Nature submission" between 26th November - 31st December 2006 24:00 Finnish time (GMT +2).

Prizes:
1st Place: 1 Year subscription + Premium Print Account + Secret Special Prize
2nd Place: 6 Months subscription
3rd Place: 3 Month subscription

Also, some of the jury's favorites will be given honourable mentions.

Thu Nov 23, 2006, 10:09 PM

Yay people! Finally my portfolio met the milestone with five zeros painted on it. It has happened on NOV 24-th 2006 directly at 7:00 CET and in according to the DA Recent Visitors table it looked like three animals were watching me at that moment:
*Mystykat, ~modestmouse12 and ~SANTOCOYOTE

So I don't know who exactly was my 100000-th visitor :D
